The motto of the claddagh, "Let love and friendship reign," is there to see in the sight of a heart being caressed by loving hands, and capstoned by a simple crown. This sentiment makes the claddagh ring a beautiful symbol of love and commitment in the form of the claddagh engagement ring. The first ring below is engraved with the words 'Love, Loyalty and Friendship' on the inside of the shank.
